You are invited to take part in a survey about possible experiences for offshore research tourism in the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea. See the map below.

This survey will take approximately 25 minutes. There are about 50 questions. Hopefully, approximately 800 people will complete it by March 2013.

Offshore research tourism is ecotourism in remote and/or offshore marine locations where marine science is a key part of the tourist attraction. Benefits of offshore research tourism include;

1. Low-cost and regular access for researchers and ecotourists to remote marine locations
2. A platform for education programs and documentaries that promote marine science, conservation, and ecotourism.

Examples of offshore research tourism are Eye to Eye Marine Encounters and Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions

By participating in this survey, you will assist ecotourism operators to create new and better offshore research tourism experiences on the Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea, and elsewhere.

Most of this survey will ask you to quickly rate (i.e. interest or satisfaction levels) 110 photos that illustrate key features of offshore research tourism. This rating should take between 10 and 15 minutes. Two examples of these photos and rating process are below.
