Introduction:
Thank you for your participation. In this survey we would like to assess the utility of the MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS and FishNet II search portals and explore ideas for a combined portal of vertebrate natural history collections called VertNet.

The object of this survey is to:
1.) Define the stakeholders (contributors and consumers) of MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS and FishNet II.
2.) Identify the most common tasks and primary uses.
3.) Gather feedback about potential features and tools that would be useful to the stakeholders.

In this survey, you will be asked about your work, research and interests as they pertain to natural history data. Then you will be presented with some potential tools that a new VertNet search portal could incorporate. We welcome your suggestions and feedback. Most questions are followed by a comments box where we would appreciate that you qualify your answer if necessary or add additional comments.

If you have not used the search portals at MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS or FishNet II before,you may explore one of them first or you can try our VertNet demonstration portal, which serves data from all four networks with a familiar look and feel. However, familiarity with the current portals is not necessary to complete the survey.

There are a total of 26 questions. It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
