How are the Mean and other statistical measures calculated?
By default, for any question, the first option (answer) is given a score of 1, the second option a score of 2 and so on and so forth. So, if you have a mean of 3.5 in a 5 item scale, it basically tells you that the mean lies between the third and the fourth option.
In my case, the first option does not necessarily represent 1 -- in fact the scores for my scales are reversed. How do I analyze the data?
In such cases, you can use the "Customize Scale Weight" option :
- Login » My Surveys » Reports » Advanced Analysis » Configure Analytics » Configure Reporting (Choose Question)

With this option, you can reverse the scale (or add customized weights) to each of the options.
Where do I see the customized mean?
The customized mean is immediately displayed just below the regular mean calculation.

You can also see the Customized Mean in the Real Time Summary Report.
