What we have here are three photographs.
The first, by Mary Chind of the Des Moines Register, won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography.
The second photo, by Athit Perawongmetha of Getty Images, may well win the 2011 Pulitzer.
The third photo, which never won a Pulitzer but should have, is by John D. Collins. It shows Wendell Willkie entering his home town to announce his candidacy for president in 1940.
