Hello!

You are invited to participate in an exploratory study to find out how ready Primary GEP English Language teachers and students are in adopting Corpus CALL and tele-collaborative tasks and projects in the language classroom to achieve the goals of the GEP. In this survey, approximately 34 people will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about your thoughts on teaching philosophies, your attitudes towards technology, how you incorporate the use of technology into classroom activities and what support you need to help you integrate technology effectively into your lessons. It will take approximately 40 minutes to complete the questionnaire.


Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. It is very important for us to learn your opinions.


Your survey responses will be stricly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. SECTION A: TEACHING PHILOSOPHY


A1) Indicate how much you disagree or agree with each of the following statements about teaching and learning by checking the box under the column that best describes your views.

a) Teachers know a lot more than students and should do their best to explain the answers to their students directly, instead of letting students spend time looking for the answers themselves.

I am a facilitator in class. I provide resources and opportunities for my students to discover concepts for themselves. I have come to realise that students learn best when you teach the material in a structured way. I am not doing my job if I do not explain or show students how to do their work.

The most important thing to teach the student is the content. That is what they will be tested and that is what the community expects us to teach. Content is not important. Teaching the students how to think is more important than teaching them content.

I believe that student interest and motivation is important but that should not drive what they learn. It is more important to teach the students what we know they will need in the future. It is more important that students are interested and motivated in doing work. They will learn the content if they are interested.
 

* d)
It is more practical to give the whole class the same assignment with clearly stated instructions. This will ensure that it matches what we have taught in class. It will be great for different students to work on different activities or assignments, according to their abilities and interests.
