What are GMO’s?
GMO’s are genetically modified organisms such as plants, animals or bacteria which have had their genetic material or DNA altered in some way that does not occur naturally and is used to alter or enhance products such as food, food ingredients, animal feed or medicines such as antibiotics or vaccines. Approximately 50 novel or genetically modified (GM) foods (GMO's) have been approved for Canadian consumers, including corn, canola, potato, tomato, squash, soybeans, flax, and sugar beets.
