About the program for Arab Expatriate Children
|
| |
|
|
|
The Learning Experience: for students of age 12 to 21 |
| The best way to develop one's understanding of a culture and to learn its language is to explore and interact with its people and discover first hand its traditions, values, ideas, ways of thinking and language by being immersed in it. The program is based on a holistic approach to learning the Arabic culture and language. | |
| The program is a combination of online courses and in-country experience with the support of an online community of learners with online activities and discussions. | Online Courses: 6-weeks modules |
| Ongoing online activities are available throughout the program. No prior knowledge of Arabic is required to start online. Students can begin the program online and meet their "online teachers and classmates" at the beginning of the academic year in a secure web environment.
| | They can also get a little help from Mum, Dad, and the school Arabic teacher in their country of residence. The courses are designed using simple technologies with the support of interactive resources: Web material, CDs and books. Online courses are engaging, fun and highly interactive. Students can take one or more courses per year. |
In-Country Sessions: 1, 2, or 3 weeks modules | | | |
Students meet in a wonderful inn in a typical rural area of their home country. They are grouped in classes according to their age and language proficiency levels and get immersed in a unique living environment where they interact with local communities in Arabic! Whether you go for one, two or three weeks the program offers four hours of instructions per day in the morning. |
| | | They experience the wealth of natural, cultural, and human heritage that their country offers.
Sure! They enjoy traditional food recipes and get closer to their roots. A wide range of activities to apply their learning in various ways are presented in the afternoon. The hours of instructions are supported by activities: cultural events, visits to historical places, discussions about films, debates and interviews (depending on the level of understanding and oral expressions) as well as music and art appreciation sessions. |
Continuum in Learning | | Add picture showing online community around the world learning together | Students have the option to continue both online and in-country; they will be invited to join a community of learners with follow-on online activities and discussion forums. This program is designed to enhance school curricula. |
