DESCRIPTION

Our client is a large multinational manufacturer of packaged food products. It operates in numerous countries in Europe, the USA and elsewhere. It is seeking to outsource it's entire German distribution operation, including primary distribution, warehousing, picking, secondary distribution to retail and food services customer sites and in some cases retail display building and other value added services. It is expected that one or more multi-year contracts will be awarded.
The distribution requirement represents approximately 130K pallets of ambient products to be delivered to customer sites, and a single storage location for approximately 25K pallets on racks is required.
PROCESS

A competitive tendering process involving an internet-based Request For Quotation (RFQ) system from Translogistica (see www.translogistica.com) will be used to select the appropriate service provider(s). It is important that you indicate whether your company has a high-speed or broadband internet connection (you will need Internet Explorer Version 6), as this will be necessary in order to participate. Please note that this is not an auction, and service provider(s) will be selected based on quality, service provision and flexibility as well as price.
Meetings with the client and site visits will take place at appropriate points in the process; it is envisaged that the selection process will be completed in the second half of 2005.
