Water Rate Survey
Water Rate Survey
Over the next few years, all agricultural chemical products are going to be reviewed under the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) Operating Principles in Relation to Spray Drift Risk (
www.apvma.gov.au/spraydrift
).
Part of this review will involve the establishment of mandatory downwind no spray buffer zones from areas of identified risk which will be established according to the amount of chemical used.
Currently, there is a lack of information regarding what water rates (at the point of run off) are typically used in industry. As a result very high water rates must be used to establish buffer zones, which means, they may be much larger than required by standard industry practices. DPI Chemical Standards are conducting this survey to gather and provide a report to the APVMA about what water rates are typically used in horticulture so the whole of industry is not restricted by a ‘worst case scenario’ of excessively high water rates.
Your responses to this quick 5 minute anonymous survey are greatly appreciated and will go towards benefiting your business and the horticultural industry as a whole.
