Surveys form the basis of successful market research projects and insights management. Agile surveys are needed to develop research studies that are easy to manage, quick to deploy, and allow for easy collaboration between distributed researchers and teams.
We’re excited to announce the successful launch of the Edit Survey project! This marks a significant leap forward in handling survey editing, versioning, and performance, especially for large surveys with 5,000+ questions.
Key goals of edit survey and survey collaboration
As part of our commitment to bettering the research landscape for our customers, clients, and partners, we have improved our edit survey experience to smoothen the research process. The five key goals that this new survey experience will solve are as follows:
- Scalability: Supports surveys with thousands of questions effortlessly.
- Stability: Eliminates setup errors to streamline the user experience.
- Performance: Cuts survey-building time by 70%, offering a 10X improvement in efficiency.
- Collaboration: Resolves issues caused by concurrent edits across different devices or browser tabs.
- Versioning: Introduces survey versioning for better control over changes.
These features have been rearchitectured over time and extensively tested to bring a proof of concept to life!
Features introduced in phase 1 of survey edit & collaboration
The features introduced in our new survey edit and collaboration phase are as follows.
Survey versioning
Every time a change is made to a survey, a new version is automatically saved. Users can preview and restore from a list of survey versions, ensuring full control over edits and updates.
Draft/publish mode
When a new survey is created, it starts in Draft mode. Below is a quick overview of the two modes:
- Draft mode: The survey can be edited. Data collection (taking the survey) is paused.
- Publish mode: Survey editing is disabled, and data collection is enabled.
To edit a published survey, users will need to switch the survey back to Draft mode.
Real-time collaboration
Users can now share a survey link and collaborate with others to edit the survey in real-time. Multiple users can work together on a survey, with changes reflected live.
You can watch a demo of how real-time survey collaboration works in the video below.
Rollout phases of edit survey and survey collaboration
As we scale up our new edit survey rollout, look for the following user access milestones.
- Phase 2 (Nov 14, 2024): Essential license across all data centers.
- Phase 3 (Dec 12, 2024): Advanced license availability.
- Phase 4 (Jan 5, 2025): Full rollout to all licenses.
- Phase 5 (TBD): Available for all products.
