Let us introduce Kristie Lawrence, one of our great staff accountant team members, as she tells us about her professional growth and her experience with the flexibility and supportive culture that we like to encourage here at QuestionPro.
Kristie started at QuestionPro in September 2017, right after she moved to a new city, even though she wasn’t planning to start a new job immediately. She stumbled upon some of our job offers online, and, in her words, the opportunity was too good to pass up. She started part-time, handling day-to-day accounting and HR duties for the US parent company.
Over the years, her role developed significantly. By 2023, she transitioned to a full-time position, becoming an essential part of the team. A considerable part of her day involves assisting different teams within QuestionPro. This can include sales, IT, and marketing, as she makes sure they have the information and support needed to serve their customers successfully.
One of the perks Kristie values most at QuestionPro is the flexibility we’re so proud of. “Being able to do my job when, where, and however I need to,” she says, is a game-changer. This allows her to balance her work with her interests, like enjoying her favorite dishes—a delicious carne asada burrito or a giant plate of spaghetti with garlic bread. Anyone’s hungry?
When asked about her inspirations, Kristie immediately talked about Sanja Licina, QuestionPro’s President of Workforce. “I can list a hundred traits I admire about her,” Kristie says, “but at the top would be her unwavering positivity, empathy, thoughtfulness, integrity, and leadership.” As a working mom, Kristie finds Sanja’s ability to balance personal and professional life with grace and humility particularly inspiring. We love to see the inspiration coming from the inside!
Outside of work, Kristie enjoys spending time with her family. When spring comes, she looks forward to returning outside, planting her garden, and playing in the dirt. This year, she’s also eager to play more pickleball, indulge in her love for historical fiction, and satisfy her sweet tooth with baking.
A fulfilling workday for Kristie is one where she can step out of the routine. “Accounting is generally a bunch of repetitive tasks that have to be done daily or monthly,” she explains. “So I feel most fulfilled when I can do something different or creative, like designing our new hire swag kit or helping out with our XDay conference.“
Currently, Kristie is focused on a couple of personal goals. She wants to volunteer more for an environmental organization working to reduce climate change and prioritize her health and well-being. She recently bought an under-desk treadmill and is determined to use it.
According to Kristie, what makes QuestionPro unique is its size and global reach. “We are fairly small for a global company,” she notes. This allows employees to work closely with colleagues worldwide and form genuine connections, even remotely.
For Kristie, her most important contribution to the world is her son.
“Today’s kids will be tomorrow’s leaders,” she says, “and they have a lot on their plate to deal with. The best thing I can do is set an example for him to be a compassionate, responsible, and kind human.“
In a light-hearted moment, Kristie shares a unique fact about herself: she has pet chickens. This small detail adds a charming touch to her story and illustrates the diverse and vibrant personalities that make up the QuestionPro team. And we just love it.
We hope Kristie’s journey at QuestionPro is a testament to the company’s supportive and flexible culture. She has navigated various challenges and opportunities, contributing significantly to the team. Her story is one of adaptability, passion for her work, and the importance of a supportive work environment.
At QuestionPro, we consider team members like Kristie integral parts of a dynamic, global team. Stay tuned for more cultural insights from the team in the next edition of Life@QuestionPro.
