  • Engage: Blogging Best Practices for Research and Professional Communication─Discuss blogging and micro-blogging to promote research, teaching, or non-academic views
  1.       Recognize best practices for content and delivery
  2.       Identify the pros and cons of using these forms of social media
  3.       Search for and subscribe to blogs created by researchers in your discipline of interest
  • Stand Out: Develop Your Profile on Academic Social Media Sites─Learn about academic social/professional networking sites (e.g., Academia.edu, ChronicleVitae.com, Versatile Ph.D.)
  1.        Create and update profiles on these sites
  2.        Begin networking with colleagues
  3.        Identify best practices for participating in discussions within these networks
