NZMA Future Direction

In early May I conducted a survey about the future direction of NZMA. The results presented at the Special AGM held on 22nd May 2022 indicated that a majority of our members agree with NZMA having a closer working relationship with Athletics NZ. The challenge now is how will this closer relationship work. What are we wanting Athletics NZ to do regarding how and when we deliver our Track & Field Championships event.

Prior to the NZMA Track & Field Championships beginning on Friday 2nd December 2022, we are holding the NZMA AGM. We will be discussing this important topic, plus remits from other Centres. Traditionally that is a very small group of Centre delegates and may not truly reflect the views of the bulk of our members.

The NZMA Board has discussed some ideas and options on how the 'way forward' might look. I have had initial discussions with Athletics NZ and they are keen to work together, but need more detail from us as to what we require. I would like to try and achieve a broad consensus on how we proceed with the closer relationship with Athletics NZ. The Board is particularly interested in the views of ‘younger’ masters as you are the future of masters athletics, so PLEASE take the opportunity to have your say.
