The UTEP College of Education is seeking nominations for the Evelyn Schwartz Endowed Award, which is a monetary recognition given to two novice public school teachers. Through the Schwartz Award, we honor two extraordinary teachers with an award of $1,000 and recognition at the Homecoming College of Education Alumni Breakfast for their already impressive achievements and innovative work with students and teaching practices (e.g., standards-based instruction, integration of technology, interdisciplinary curricula, and work with parents and school community). The purpose of this award is to encourage new teachers to continue to develop teaching skills and advocate for the profession. 
Awardees will be selected by a committee based on the following criteria:
1. Graduated from UTEP 
2. Teaching 5 years or less (not counting student or clinical teaching)
3. Demonstrated innovative work with students and teaching practices (e.g., standards-based instruction, integration of technology, interdisciplinary curricula, and work with parents and school community)
4. Teachers may be nominated by their school principals, fellow teachers, or school district personnel
*Nominations are due June 15, 2020. 
**Awardees will be announced August 31, 2020.
