When respondents take surveys, we collect and store the IP Address of the respondents along with the responses. By default, for all anonymous surveys, this is the only piece of identifying data that is collected and stored along with the survey response. Geo-coding enables you to find out the physical location such has city, region (state), etc. for these IP addresses. This process of mapping IP addresses to physical locations is called Geo-Coding.

Yes. You can disable geo-coding by switching off the Capture Location Data setting.
Go to: Login » My Account (top right corner) » Global Settings Under Survey Settings switch off the toggle for Capture Location DataOnce disabled, location data will not be captured with the response data collected.
QuestionPro has licensed the Geo-Coding database from MaxMind (www.maxmind.com) - Under terms, the data provides a 99% accuracy on the country level and a 85% accuracy on the region level. You can visit the GeoIP Country database and GeoIP Region/State database
Geo-Coding of regions is primarily based on the internet service provider's (ISP) meta-data made available to the survey response. In some cases, ISP's provide incorrect origin of the IP address itself on the "WHOIS" database. The "WHOIS" database is a global database used to identify the origin of the ISP. If the origin updated on the "WHOIS" table is incorrect in these cases you might be getting an incorrect Geo-Code for the region on the response notification and analytics.
